    Karthik Mohan
    Sound Designer/Sound Editor

Karthik Mohan’s journey into the world of sound was a happy accident. From a young age, he has had a fascination for history and mythology. While his dad took him to the movies every weekend, his mom encouraged him to learn to play the Tabla. But all these remained just hobbies until he met a group of people who had started making short films, while doing his undergrad in Electronics Engineering.

The films they made were well received at college fests but there were always complaints about the quality of sound. Storytelling, Music and Signal Processing all came together as he found his calling in the field of Film Sound. He attended a workshop conducted by Randy Thom, Director of Skywalker Sound and that opened up a whole new world. He left lucrative job offers to pursue his M.F.A in Sound Design at Dodge College, Chapman University.

Karthik featured in The Hollywood Reporter in 2021 for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing – Student Film (Verna Fields Award) MSE Golden Reel Awards for: Las Escondidas, Chapman University Supervising Sound Editor: Karthik Mohan.

He was one of the 5 Finalists for the Cinema Audio Society Student Recognition Award, 2020. He was also an intern for the Jeffrey Katzenberg founded Quibi’s Beta Testing project at Dodge College. Among the documentaries he has worked on, Shades of Indigo featured on PBS and Birds Without Wings was a finalist at the Student Academy Awards, 2020.
